Chris Crain
Chris Crain is a managing partner in Window Media, LLC, a lesbian and gay newspaper group that includes the Houston Voice, New Orleans Impact News, New York Blade News, Southern Voice, and The Washington Blade.
A graduate with honors of Harvard Law School and Vanderbilt University, he has served as managing editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy, and, before law school, as a general assignment reporter for The Tennessean (Nashville). Before returning to journalism in 1997, he practiced law in Washington and Atlanta, taking a significant role in several major gay rights cases, including the first legal attack on the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell policy to reach the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as the child custody case of Sharon Bottoms, the Virginia lesbian whose mother sued for custody of her grandchild after learning of Sharon's sexual orientation. He has served on the national Board of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and on the Board of Directors of the Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia.
